The Maus had Electric Drive to start with... If you added a Fusion/Electric Power plant and a Rail Gun or Plasma Cannon... You would Still have a 200-Ton Tank that was Stuck in the Mud somewhere....
Watch and See, I think the Next Generation of Tanks (U.S. and Rus) will likely have (go back to!) the Electric Generator/Traction Drive Motors like Railway Engines have. It is so more Efficient for Fuel. Also, a Tank with the Generator on the Main Engine would have the Power to run a Rail Gun or Plasma Cannon, both of which are not hard to Make. Caterpillar Tractors makes a Bulldozer that is like this (D7E) and they say it runs on 30% less Fuel, and it is also quite Fast when not Pushing Dirt.
